Elkhart Lake—Mrs. Charles Henschel, one of the oldest settlers 
of this area, died last Wednesday at the home of her son, Jacob 
Henchel, after a lengthy illness. She was born January 11, 1836 
in Germany and lived to be 72 years. At the age of 17 she came 
to America and to Sheboygan County with her parents. Her marriage 
produced 10 children of which 2 preceded her in death. Her husband 
passed away several years ago. 
She is survived by the following children; Mrs. John Koeppel(Kessel) 
of Town Rhine; Mrs. John Kraemer and Mrs. Wm. Brieske of Elkhart 
Lake; Mrs. Wm. Meyer of Stockbridge; Adolph Henschel of Glenbeulah; 
Gustave Henschel of Town Russell and John Henschel on the homestead; 
also 20 grandchildren.
The funeral is from the home of the deceased and burial is in the 
Town Russell cemetery with Pastor Kreuter officiating.
